So I’ve got this YA I’m trying really hard to finish revising. I’ve revised it a TON, but here’s the problem: for the past couple of weeks I’m stuck. In the first chapter. I’ve changed/tweaked/rewrote so much of it, and still I’m not completely satisfied. And until I am, I can’t move forward. Because, you know, something I say in the first chapter could lead to something very important in subsequent chapters. Plus, I’m not exactly sure if I’ve started it in the right place. Chapter 2 might be a better opening, but I can’t imagine dumping my first chapter. It needs to be there. (Of course the fact that I’m questioning it says a whole lot right there doesn’t it?) Ugh! I really want to move on already! Has this every happened to you? What did you do?
That’s the bad news. The good news is that my novella, Worth the Risk, has finalled in the Launching A Star contest. Just when I’d started doubting my writing chutzpa, I get a phone call that reassures me I’m on the right track. I’m gonna make it baby…one day!
Oh, just had to add that I recently finished reading Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins and I absolutely loved it! Not sure what I’m going to read next. My TBR is gigantic. Have you read any good books lately?
